Born in 1968, Ziya Tacir studied engineering managment at Istanbul Technical University, followed by a postgraduate degree in business management at Saint Mary's College in the United States. From 1999 onward, he began gravitating toward photography.

Tacir focuses on a variety of subjects in his photographs, and utilizes a range of different printing techniques. Industrial heritage, production sites, cityscapes, and monumental structures are among the artist's many subjects. The interiors and exteriors he documents, frequently in series, present a narrative continuity. The large-scale works reinforce a sense of perspective and suggest a striking depth.
